Pixar looks back on track after the massive success of “Inside Out 2” this year. But now the real test begins: will next year’s “Elio” and 2026’s “Hoppers” fare well with audiences before the studio’s next sure thing, “Toy Story 5,” arrives in Summer 2026?
The first teaser for “Elio” gives audiences a sneak peek of what Pixar fans should expect from the studio’s next outing. And from the looks of things, it’s a minor affair, similar to 2021’s “Luca,” albeit with an intergalactic scope.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Elio,” courtesy of Pixar:
A space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession, Elio’s all in for an epic undertaking when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. When Elio is mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
The voice cast for “Elio” stars Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, Brad Garrett, Jameela Jamil, and Shirley Henderson.
Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina co-direct “Elio.” Mary Alice Drumm produces the film.
So will “Elio” continue Pixar’s critical and commerical rebound or not? Find out when the film hits theaters next summer on June 13, 2025. Watch the teaser for the movie below.
