New 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' Trailer: Donald Glover & Maya Erskine Prime Video Series Premieres On February 2

After what feels like myriad delays and setbacks, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” finally makes its premiere on Prime Video next month. And to drum up hype for Donald Glover‘s latest TV outing, Prime Video has a new trailer for the reimagining of Doug Liman‘s 2005 film of the same name with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. This time, Glover and Maya Erskine are the married couple who are also spies, but this series has a new spin on its source material.

Here’s an official synopsis for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” courtesy of Prime Video:

In this version, two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?

Along with Glover and Erskine, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” also stars Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Cole, John Turturro, Paul Dano, and Alexander Skarsgård. Eiza González, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, and Ursula Corbero also star.

Glover shares a creator credit for the series with Francesca Sloane. The pair also co-write the show’s pilot and finale. Other writers on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” include Yvonne Hana Yi, Adamma Ebo & Adanne Ebo, Carla Ching, Stephen Glover, and Schuyler Pappas.
