Warner Bros. is keeping their scare flicks pretty simple this year. A clown will deliver the thrills in “It,” while in “Annabelle: Creation” — the followup to “The Conjuring” spinoff “Annabelle” — the terror will come from a doll. Hey, no one said these movies had to be complicated….

“Lights Out” director David F. Sandberg directs this new entry, which brings together a cast including Stephanie Sigman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Miranda Otto for another tale of possession. Here’s the official synopsis:
In Annabelle: Creation, several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
“Annabelle: Creation” opens on August 11th.
