New Trailer For Sean Penn’s ‘The Last Face’ With Charlize Theron

This year at Cannes, while there were some movies that perhaps didn’t live up to expectations, nothing truly stunk up the place quite in the same way that Sean Penn‘s “The Last Face” did last spring on the Croisette. The earnest war drama found no favor with critics, and has taken its time coming to cinemas. But no one is doing press for the flick, which pretty much says it all.

It’s hard to believe a starry cast including Charlize Theron, Javier BardemAdèle Exarchopoulos, Jared Harris, and Jean Reno could miss the mark, but, indeed, none of the ensemble come out well in this story of love, war, and humanity in Liberia. Here’s the official synopsis:

Set against the devastating backdrop of war-torn Liberia, Miguel and Wren must find a way to keep their relationship alive in extraordinarily difficult conditions battling their mutual passion for the value of life matched by the intensity of their diametrically opposed opinions on how best to solve the conflict that surrounds them.

“The Last Face” is in cinemas today, but I’d imagine most people will be watching on DirecTV where it’s now available too.
