Got a Tip?

Nicholas Stoller Says ‘Get Him To The Greek’ Includes Music By Carl Barat & A Cameo By Pharrell

Ok, by now you should all be up to speed with “Get Him To The Greek,” the Judd Apatow-produced, Nicholas Stoller-directed sort of sequel to “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” which reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. The major difference this time is that Brand reprises his rock star Aldous Snow character and Hill plays a new role entirely.

The film centers on a record company assistant (Hill) tasked by his boss (P. Diddy) to drag the rock star (now fully off the wagon and totally out of control) to Hollywood for a comeback concert but only has a mere three days to do so. The trailer was released last week and we weren’t wildly impressed, but hopefully that’s just the early version for the masses.

As we’ve noted, the film features several cameos by contemporary musicians (outside of P.Diddy who has a full-blown role in the movie), including Katy Perry, Pink, Christina Aguilera, and reportedly Oasis — many of them were shot during the 2008 MTV Awards when Brand hosted. Musically, ex-Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker wrote some songs for the film as did Apatow regular Jason Segel (who’s musically talented and wrote songs for ‘Marshall’ as well).

But there’s more. According to an interview with Hitflix English rocker, Carl Barat of the Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things wrote some songs for the picture as did Dan Bern and Mike Viola who helped write songs for Apatow’s “Walk Hard” musical comedy starring John C. Reilly. The director Nicholas Stoller also revealed that Pharrell also has a cameo in the film.

As for Diddy’s role. The director raves about his performance. “He’s crazy in the movie. We’ve been calling him our McLovin’. He’s like our secret weapon.”

The film also co-stars Rose Byrne (who replaced Emily Blunt in a role that’s said to be similar to a Britney Spears-like pop tart), Elisabeth Moss, Aziz Ansari, Colm Meaney (as Brand’s father) and it hits theaters June 4.
