Got a Tip?

Nicholas Hoult Tapped By Director David Leitch & Amazon MGM Studios For Untitled Bank Heist Thriller

British actor Nicholas Hoult (“Max Mad: Fury Road”) has been attaching himself to some high-profile projects, such as Robert Eggers‘ dark vampire tale “Nosferatu” and playing Lex Luthor in James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman reboot coming to theaters this summer. Another big one Hoult has been tapped for is a juicy project hailing from action-obsessed filmmaker David Leitch.

Leitch and Kelly McCormick‘s production company 87North has teamed with Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment for an untitled bank heist thriller. As we wait patiently for a full title, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that they’ve cast Hoult in a key role.

While concrete details are scarce, the outlet claims the pic’s story “centers on a group of savvy bank robbers who use social media to document their heists, playing a cat-and-mouse game with police.” So, from this small bit of information, we can now rule out the flick taking place in the past and will have a modern flare to it.

Writer Mark Bianculli penned the script after previously working on Amazon’s satirical Nazi-hunter series, “Hunters” along with co-writing a female-centric remake of “Cliffhanger starring Lily James and Pierce Brosnan.

Hoult isn’t a stranger to playing bank robber roles as he played a Neo-Nazi criminal that pulled off daring heists in Justin Kurzel‘s “The Order,” so his character could bankroll domestic terrorist activities.

Leitch, of course, is known for his fantastic stunt work and eventually co-directing the first “John Wick” with Chad Stahelski before branching out with a string of solo directing efforts like “Atomic Blonde,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” “Deadpool 2,” the Brad Pitt Japan-set flick “Bullet Train,” and his most recent release, “The Fall Guy.”

The director is mostly known for his comedic-action hybrids, but it sounds like this next one might be a little more grounded given the “thriller” aspect and we can’t wait to see who they end up casting around Hoult in supporting parts. Stay tuned for more casting updates and further plot details.
