Jennifer Lawrence had her first movie since 2019’s execrable “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” late last year with Adam McKay‘s “Don’t Look Up.” And it appears that her hiatus from acting is finally on the wane, as she’ll star in A24‘s upcoming army vet drama “Red, White and Water,” currently in post-production. But Lawrence also leads an R-Rated comedy on the way, and Sony just gave it an official release date.

Deadline reports that “No Hard Feelings” will hit theaters next year on June 16. Sony bills the film as an “R-rated comedy with a heart,” so expect something in the vein of “Bad Moms” or “The Hangover” series. Or how about “Bad Teacher,” the 2011 Cameron Diaz vehicle about an immoral middle school teacher? Gene Stupnitsky, the writer of that film, directs “No Hard Feelings” and co-writes the script with “Dirty Grandpa” writer John Phillips. Stupnitsky’s only other directing credit is 2019 “Good Boys,” but with “Bad Teacher” and writing for “The Office” on his resume, Lawrence should be in good hands.
No word on who else will star in “No Hard Feelings” yet, but Lawrence is all-in on the movie. She also produces the film.
The movie’s June 16, 2023 release date pits it against Pixar‘s “Elemental” at the box office. What will win in that battle? “Lightyear,” Pixar’s latest, didn’t do so hot with critics or audiences, so maybe the first R-Rated comedy in theaters in a while will pull off the upset. Only time will tell.
