Folks, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but Elijah Wood is making some of the best work he’s made in years, whether it’s behind the camera or in front. Long past his days in the ‘Rings’ franchise, Wood has acted in underrated (and admittedly strange) features recently like “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore” and last year’s “Come to Daddy.” And as a producer, he’s worked on features such as “Mandy,” “Color Out of Space,” “The Greasy Strangler,” and “Daniel Isn’t Real.” All that to say, don’t sleep on Mr. Elijah Wood in 2021. And that includes his new film, “No Man of God.”
In honor of “No Man of God” arriving in theaters soon, we’re happy to give our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the film that showcases just how good Elijah Wood is on screen, even when he’s not saying a word. (Also of note, Wood is a producer on the project.) In the film, Wood plays an FBI agent that develops a very unique relationship with an incarcerated Ted Bundy in the years leading to the serial killer’s execution.
Joining Wood in the cast are Luke Kirby (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Aleksa Palladino (“The Irishman”), and Robert Patrick (“Terminator 2”). “No Man of God” is directed by Amber Sealey, who is probably best known for her most recent film, 2016’s “No Light and No Land Anywhere.” The film is written by Kit Lesser.

In our review of “No Man of God” from this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, we called Wood’s performance “excellent” and said, “Hagmaier ultimately has to live with the burden of Bundy’s animus. Maybe by showing viewers that animus for what it is instead of for naughty thrills, Sealey’s film can make that burden a little lighter. If not, at least she’s given Bundy the treatment he deserves: Judgment.”
“No Man of God” debuts in theaters and on VOD on August 27. You can watch the exclusive clip from the film below.
Here’s the synopsis:
In 1980, Ted Bundy was sentenced to death by electrocution. In the years that followed, he agreed to disclose the details of his crimes, but only to one man. NO MAN OF GOD is based on the true story of the strange and complicated relationship that developed between FBI agent Bill Hagmaier and an incarcerated Ted Bundy in the years leading to Bundy’s execution.
