It’s been widely reported that Marvel Studios is changing the way it does television series. The studio is said to be going with a more traditional TV way of doing things than trying to film it like a long movie. This is becoming more obvious when you consider just who the studio has hired to be showrunner on “Nova.”

According to Deadline, Ed Bernero has been brought on to be showrunner of the new “Nova” TV series. When the project was originally announced, it was unclear whether “Nova” would be a film or a TV series. However, now it has been confirmed the project is most definitely a TV series.

“Nova” tells the story of Richard Ryder, a man who is brought into the space cop group, the Nova Corps. However, what’s interesting about this TV series, as it pertains to Richard Ryder’s origin, the Nova Corps. might not exist right now. You may remember that in “Infinity War,” it’s said that the Nova Corps.’ home planet of Xandar was wiped out by Thanos. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they reckon with that in the show.
Bernero is no stranger to TV work. He’s probably best known as the former showrunner of “Criminal Minds.” He also showrun and co-created the spinoff series, “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.” We’ll have to see what his vast TV experience brings to “Nova.”
It’s still unclear when we might see “Nova” arrive on Disney+. 2025 is chock full of TV projects from Marvel Studios, including “Daredevil: Born Again,” “Ironheart,” and “Wonder Man.” At the earliest, this new project would arrive sometime in 2026.
