'Obi-Wan Kenobi' First Look Photos Introduce A New Villain For Ewan McGregor To Face Off Against

We are a little over two months away from the premiere of the long-awaited “Obi-Wan Kenobi” streaming series. And as such, Disney and Lucasfilm are starting the marketing campaign for the “Star Wars” spinoff show with some first-look photos that show the title character, as well as one of the baddies that he’ll encounter.

Courtesy of EW, we now have a series of first-look photos for “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” And in the photos, there’s plenty of bearded Ewan McGregor as the title character, a Jedi who has isolated himself on Tatooine to watch over the young Luke Skywalker. Sure, we just assumed that his time on Tatooine was rather uneventful until young Skywalker goes to find him during the events of “A New Hope,” but we were wrong. In fact, it appears Obi-Wan had one major adventure that brought him all over the galaxy.

“We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up,” said McGregor about where Obi-Wan sits at the beginning of the series, which takes place a decade after the events of “Revenge of the Sith.”

It appears the show really picks up with the investigation from the Inquisitors, a group of force-sensitive folks from the Empire who are tasked with hunting down the remaining Jedi. In the series, this is best shown in the character of Reva, played by Moses Ingram. Not much is known about Reva in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” except for the fact that she works under both The Grand Inquisitor (who has appeared in animated “Star Wars” series and is expected to make his live-action debut) and Darth Vader himself (played, once again, by Hayden Christensen).

“They share a common dark-side goal,” Ingram said about her cohorts. “They’re on the same team.”

Rumors have Reva as a female version of Revan, another character who has been seen in other non-live action “Star Wars” projects. We’ll have to see if this is something that actually comes to fruition or not.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” arrives on Disney+ on May 25. You can see the first look photos below:
