Disney+ Day is upon us. Along with the streaming premieres of “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and “Jungle Cruise,” and Season 2 of “The World According To Jeff Goldblum,” the celebration also includes updates on many upcoming Marvel and ‘Star Wars‘ series.
“Hawkeye” and “The Book Of Boba Fett” are right around the corner, but others won’t be out until sometime in 2022. Now, thanks to new info, we know when those shows will arrive next year.
While the new season of “The Mandalorian” remains the most anticipated Disney+ show on the horizon, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” may be a close second. The new six-episode mini-series sees Ewan McGregor return as the Jedi master for the first time since 2005’s “Revenge Of The Sith.” In addition, Hayden Christensen is also back to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
The new series begins between the prequels and original trilogy and follows Obi-Wan as he settles into his life in exile on Tatooine. As the Jedi watches over the newborn Luke Skywalker from afar, he reckons with the aftermath of Order 66 that destroyed the Jedi Order and soon gets thrust into a new adventure.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” also stars Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Luke’s Uncle Ben and Aunt Beru Lars. The show also boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Rupert Friend. Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, and Maya Erksine also star.
Will “Obi-Wan Kenobi” usurp “The Mandalorian” as the new franchise fan-favorite under the Disney banner? Find out when the series premieres in 2022. Check out the teaser below:
