'Ocean's 14': George Clooney Says "A Great Script" Exists For Another Film In The Franchise & Is Inspired By 'Going In Style'

Can you believe it’s been 16 years since “Ocean’s 13?” Hell, it’s already been five years since the not-so-great “Ocean’s 8” spinoff. Needless to say, it’s been a while since we’ve had a good dose of Danny Ocean goodness. But according to George Clooney, perhaps another heist is in the works.

In an interview with UPROXX, George Clooney was promoting his new film, “The Boys in the Boat,” and eventually, the topic of the ‘Ocean’s’ films was brought up. And without a prompt, Clooney shared some optimistic news about the future of the heist franchise.

“We have a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,” said Clooney.

When the potential sequel was called “Ocean’s 14” in the discussion, the actor was quick to interject and clear something up. Apparently, it would not follow the numbering style of the franchise.

“Well … I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going In Style,’” he said.

For those unaware, “Going in Style” is the 2017 film from filmmaker Zach Braff… wait a minute…[checks notes]…my bad. Apparently, Clooney isn’t a huge Braff fan and wanted to play off of his film. Instead, the inspiration comes from Martin Brest’s 1979 film of the same name starring none other than George Burns and Art Carney. Basically, it looks like the next ‘Ocean’s’ film would play into the idea of the guys aging and not being, necessarily, at the top of their game.

In addition to this potential sequel, we know work is moving ahead on an ‘Ocean’s’ prequel film that would find Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling reteaming. They would play the parents of Danny Ocean, and the film is expected to take place in the ‘60s. So, if this project gets in front of cameras and Clooney gets his way with a sequel, we could be looking at a resurgence of films featuring heists perpetrated by very attractive people over the next few years. Huzzah!
