Despite claiming they would never reunite, the original prefab four – The Rutles – are doing just that and reconvening for the 30th anniversary of their “All You Need Is Cash” mockumentary.
The original British Invasion rockers will reunite in Los Angeles on March 17 for a 30th anniversary salute to the NBC special that “cemented the mock rockers’ status as a cult fave among rock ‘n’ roll aficionados, Beatlemaniacs and others.”
Eric Idle, Neil Innes, Ricky Fataar and John Halsey (Dirk, Nasty, Stig, & Barry respectively) will be the guests of honor at the American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre for the celebration and will be onhand for a Q&A afterwards.
The event will feature a digitally restored print of the cult-fave documentary along with rarely screened 1975 British telly skit and Rutles footage from Saturday Night Live, plus highlights of the no-so-stellar 2003 sequel “Rutles 2: Can’t Buy Me Lunch.“
Tickets are available online from Fandango and are also available in-person at the Egyptian Theatre Box Office.
