Got a Tip?

Outcast Season 2 Trailer: The Other Robert Kirkman Horror Series Is Returning Soon To Cinemax

Anyone else forget that Cinemax was a channel you probably have? And that they had their own original content? Well, “Outcast” is coming back to remind you of just that. If you forgot about it (or are only just learning of its existence now), that’s okay. The show quietly premiered almost exactly two years ago in 2016 and the second season has already aired across the pond.

“Outcast” is based on the Robert Kirkman (aka the guy who created “The Walking Dead“) comics of the same name and, turns out, the first season was actually pretty good. The first season currently holds a  pretty decent 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was confirmed for a second season even before Season 1 aired.

The show follows the creepy and mysterious supernatural happenings in a small West Virginia town. And the official synopsis and new trailer definitely capture that ominous mood:

Continuing to probe the mystery of what lies behind the town of Rome’s supernatural manifestations, and why they are drawn to Kyle, the show explores how people cope with extreme circumstances while protecting the ones they love. “Outcast” is created and executive produced by Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”) and based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta.

“Outcast” stars Patrick Fugit (aka the kid from “Almost Famous”) along with Kate Lyn Sheil,  Wrenn Schmidt, Megan Holter,, Allison Barnes, Julia Crockett, David Denman, Brent Spiner, and Reg E. Cathey. Cathey, unfortunately, passed away earlier this year and this will be one of his final appearances.

Even though there have been a solid two years between seasons one and two, HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming president Kary Antholis seems pretty confident in it. He mentioned to Deadline that “I think the new season is very strong, and I hope it’s got a bit more fun and entertainment in it, and is a step forward.”

As a refresher, Cinemax will be re-airing the whole first season and it’ll be added to HBO Go and HBO NOW. Catch up on everything before Cinemax premieres season two on July 20.
