Tiffany Haddish Says She Hit On Leonardo DiCaprio For Real In Hilarious, Bizarre Interview

Tiffany Haddish has had an incredible journey to stardom. From working hard for years as a stand-up comedian to reaching A-list status with a scene-stealing role in “Girls Trip,” the actress has had a wild career. But now, Haddish is everywhere. Since her role in “Girls Trip,” Haddish has worked with Tracy Morgan on the show “The Last O.G.” and also has a ton of projects lined up, including “Night School” with Kevin Hart, “The List,” directed and written by Tyler Perry, and “Uncle Drew” costarring “Get Out” breakout Lil Rel Howery. That’s not to mention voice roles in two massive upcoming animated features “The Lego Movie 2” and “The Secret Life of Pets 2.” Oh yeah, and there’s “The Kitchen,” which she co-stars in with Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss. So yeah, everything’s coming up Haddish.

That being said, there was a lot to talk about in her new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. But even with all those high-profile projects, the real news came when Haddish talks about some of her more famous celebrity encounters. And if you don’t think that Haddish has a story for every celebrity in Hollywood, you totally underestimate her.

When asked about Leonardo DiCaprio, Haddish did not mince words. For context, at the beginning of his career, DiCaprio and fellow actors and friends Tobey Maguire and Kevin Connolly dubbed themselves “the pussy posse.” When finally given a chance to talk to the Oscar winner, Haddish didn’t waste any time.

“Yeah, I met him at a party two, three months ago, and I asked him if he’d let me hit that,” she said. “He’s like, ‘Tiffany, you’re so funny.’ I’m like, ‘I’m serious.’ And then he goes, ‘I mean, I’d do it, but …’ I was like, ‘Come on, wasn’t you in a squad? The coochie squad or something?’ I told him, ‘My only stipulation: I wanna do it with you as your character in ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.’ He starts bustin’ up laughin’. ‘Why?’ he asks, and I say, ‘Cause I feel like that performance deserves a real reward and that reward is this (gestures at her own body).’ He starts goin’ into how he got into the role, how he worked with these kids and all this stuff, and I’m just listenin’ and listenin’, like, ‘Mmm-hmm, mmm-hmm.’ I finally go, ‘All that’s good, I just need to know, When’s this gonna happen?'”

DiCaprio isn’t the only high-profile actor Haddish has a story about. She also talked about an encounter (or a few) with Roseanne Barr:

“I don’t know if you know El Segundo [a coastal California town near LAX], but if you’re black and you’re driving through El Segundo, you’re going to get pulled over. I used to visit my friend Anna there, and it got to a point where I was calling the police officers by name. One day, we were walking around the neighborhood, and Anna says, ‘Oh, Roseanne lives there.’ Now, I loved ‘Roseanne,’ and the next day we walked by, and she was in her yard. I say, ‘Hiiii, Roseanne.’ She looks at me (makes a disgusted face), and ran in the house. I thought, ‘Maybe she don’t want to be bothered today.’ A week later, we walk by again, and I told Anna — she’s Hispanic, but she looks white — she should say hi this time. So she says, ‘Hi, Roseanne,’ and Roseanne goes, ‘Hey!’ I thought, ‘Maybe she got to know us.’ Then I go back, like, a week later, I wave again and say, ‘Hi, Roseanne! I love your comedy,’ and she (makes the same disgusted face) and turns her head.”

As if the projects mentioned above weren’t enough, Haddish is already working with “Carmichael” showrunner Danielle Sanchez-Witzel on a sitcom centered around the life of a female comic. She’s also planning a standup special for Netflix in the fall. And Judd Apatow approached Haddish on making her memoir into a  film.

Haddish has been pushing herself to the new levels every time we see her. As for the future, she said, “Right now, my mind’s on one street, but it might be in every city, every metropolis, and it might turn into a big thing. It’s gonna be amazing.”
