Oscar-winning director Glen Keane heads up the project. Keane built up an impressive resume with Disney as an animator, but it would be his work with the late Kobe Bryant on “Dear Basketball” that would bring him the biggest accolades. The spirit of Bryant’s ode to the sport he loved and participated in proves to be inspiring as much as it is heartfelt. Those same ideals bleed into ‘Moon’ as Fei Fei reaches for unimaginable heights. Keane is joined on the project by co-director John Kahrs. Kahrs himself comes to the film with numerous animation credits, including some of Pixar and Disney’s highest-grossing hits. He also won an Academy Award for the acclaimed short “Paperman”; this creative look at love through striking black and white tones has become a favorite among animation aficionados.

The spirit of the project is shepherded by Audrey Wells’ powerful script. Before her death in 2018, the multi-hyphenate brought to life family films like “George of the Jungle” and “A Dog’s Purpose.” It seems fitting that her last credit would be on a project that is designed to illuminate the dreams of young girls everywhere.
