You might think directing all ten episodes of a TV series would be wearying, but that’s not stopping Paolo Sorrentino. Fresh from helming the ten-episode “The Young Pope” for Sky/HBO (our review), the director is already gearing up his next feature film. And it’ll revolve around one of the most controversial Italian leaders in recent memory.

Variety reports that Sorrentino will direct “Loro” about former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The director is currently writing the script for the project which will apparently endeavor to be more than simply a takedown of the politician (which would be quite easy given the numerous scandals he’s been involved with) and tell a more multi-faceted story about his world and those around him.
Right now, the aim is to try and get cameras rolling as soon as next summer, if Sorrentino can get the screenplay ready in time, but he tends to work quickly so that’s not expected to be an issue. So, Cannes 2018? Could be…
