It’s Taylor Sheridan’s world, and you’re just living in it if you’re on Paramount+. The writer/director/showrunner’s empire keeps continuing to grow. Sheridan has three shows on Paramount+, the huge hit, “Yellowstone,” its post-Civil-War era spin-off, “1883,” and the prison industrial complex series, “Mayor of Kingstown,” starring Jeremy Renner. Created by Sheridan and actor Hugh Dillon, who also had a role on “Yellowstone” and appeared on ‘Kingstown,’ during Paramount’s TCA panel today, the TV streaming service announced that “Mayor Of Kingstown” has been renewed for a second season.

That’s likely no surprise, it’s the service’s second most-watched original series, and a name like Jeremy Renner obviously moves the need. According to Paramount+, “Mayor Of Kingstown” was the #1 original scripted drama on Paramount+ since the rebrand and cable’s biggest new scripted premiere since “Yellowstone” in June 2018 with 2.6 million total viewers.
The show co-stars Academy Award-winner Dianne Wiest, Emmy Award-winner Kyle Chandler, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, Pha’rez Lass, and Aidan Gillen (“Game Of Thrones”)
“Mayor Of Kingstown” the McLusky family –power brokers in Kingstown, Mich., where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
While Sheridan has several other shows in development, among them yet another “Yellowstone” spin-off, “6666” and “Land Man,” Paramount didn’t share any details on those, so fans of the ever-expanding Taylor Sheridan-verse will just have to wait.
