Patrick Stewart To Play A "Bosley" In Elizabeth Banks' 'Charlie's Angels' As First Plot Details Emerge

P-Stew meet K-Stew. (Sorry, I had to.)

In an interesting twist that is sure to have “Charlie’s Angels” diehard fans in a tizzy (they exist, right?), Patrick Stewart has been hired to portray Bosley in the new reboot film. Well, more like “a Bosley.” Let’s explain.

According to THR, the veteran “Star Trek” and “X-Men” actor is in final negotiations for the role that would see him join the Kristen Stewart-starring action reboot. In the film, he will star opposite Elizabeth Banks (who also co-wrote and is directing the film) as one of the multiple Bosleys. That’s right, in this version of the classic story, Charlie Townsend’s detective agency, appropriately titled the Townsend Agency, is now a security and intelligence agency, with branches all around the world. And the character of Bosley, who we only saw one of in the TV series and recent film franchise, will be the codename given to the liaisons of Townsend that interacts with the titular Angels.

The new “Charlie’s Angels” film is said to focus on just one of those teams of spies, who are to be the next generation Angels. As mentioned, Stewart is the leading name of the new trio of women. However, she is joined by “Power Rangers” actress (and future Jasmine in the live-action “Aladdin”) Naomi Scott and young British actress Ella Balinska.

Not much is known about the actual plot of the film, but we have heard from Stewart on multiple occasions talking about what fans can expect. According to the actress, the film is the “super-woke” version of the franchise, with “no objectification,” and will also not try to be an “impression” of the TV series or feature films.

“Charlie’s Angels” is scheduled for release by Sony on September 27, 2019.
