'Peaky Blinders' To End After Upcoming Season But Creator Says The Story Will Continue "In Another Form"

Okay, so if you’re a fan of “Peaky Blinders,” there’s some really tough news you’re about to hear, but also a hint of good news. Ready? First, “Peaky Blinders” is ending its run with the forthcoming Season 6. That announcement was made by series creator Steven Knight. But, the world of “Peaky Blinders” might live on.

According to Deadline, Knight is ready to finish up the run of “Peaky Blinders” with the upcoming sixth season, which has seen production delays thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Knight thinks the show is going to end its run on a high note. And there is probably more story to come…in “another form.”

“‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang,” said Knight. “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

Executive producer Caryn Mandabach added, “Along with our wonderful, supportive, partners at BBC and Netflix, we have been working diligently to ensure we can get ‘Peaky’ safely back into production; the safety of our cast and crew is always our priority. Thank you to all the ‘Peaky’ fans who have been so unwaveringly supportive and patient. Steve’s scripts are incredible and mark the end of an epic story that has entranced audiences since it first started in 2013, but the world of ‘Peaky Blinders’ will most definitely live on.”

The period drama has consistently been a big performer for BBC in the UK and Netflix around the world. Starring Cillian Murphy and a great supporting cast, “Peaky Blinders” is always one of those shows that people swear is the best thing on TV but hasn’t really gotten the awards recognition it might deserve. That said, it’ll be interesting to see how the world of “Peaky Blinders” continues after Season 6. Are we talking a movie? A novel? A comic book? Who knows?

There’s still no release date set for Season 6, so there’s really no point in getting upset about the show ending right now. We have plenty of time to mourn before the show officially says its goodbyes.
