Peaky Blinders” is a prime example of what is good about streaming TV. This is a show that would have likely not done well on regular TV. Now, we’re finally getting a “Peaky Blinders” film.

Thanks to Netflix, we have our first look at the “Peaky Blinders” film on the first day of shooting. The image is of Cillian Murphy in his ‘Peaky’ costume, looking as dapper as ever. The film is written by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper. Not much is known about the new film other than it takes place during World War II. Joining Murphy in the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan.

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” Murphy said. “It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ This is one for the fans.”

He’s not wrong with saying the “Peaky Blinders” film is for the fans. Without that aforementioned growing fanbase, there wouldn’t have been a demand for a feature film. However, because the show consistently did well with viewership, not only is a film coming, but the cast is actually growing to include bonafide stars.

“I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the ‘Peaky Blinders’ story, set during World War II,” said Knight. “The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders.”

Harper added, “There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.”

With production beginning this week on the film, it’s likely we’ll see the finished film debut on Netflix sometime in 2025.
