Cannes: New Images From Olivier Assayas' 'Personal Shopper' Starring Kristen Stewart

When Kristen Stewart hit the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 with “Clouds Of Sils Maria,” it forced many to reassess the talents of the “Twilight” star. Her performance in the movie was arguably her best since finishing the YA franchise, and plaudits for her turn culminated in a César Award win for Best Actress, an honor that is rarely bestowed on American thesps. And later this month, she’ll be back on the Croisette again, reteaming with ‘Sils’ director Olivier Assayas on “Personal Shopper,” and it certainly sounds intriguing.

The film finds Stewart playing Maureen, who is reeling from the death of her twin brother who passed away a few months earlier. She works as the personal shopper for a celebrity during the day, but at night, she holds out hope for some sign of communication from her brother, in a story that seems tinged with the supernatural.

“I did not realize how deep and existential it was, and how much it moves me,” Stewart told Les Inrockuptibles in December (via Team Kristen). “I play a very very very lonely girl, who isn’t sure of who she is. Her twin brother died. And she has an obsession: get in contact with him. At the same time, she’s a shopper for this woman who is a public figure and embodies a very superficial way of life. This is a film about reality, about what is real. Is all we feel real? What we rely on?”

We’ll have our verdict on the movie soon, and we’re eager to see what Assayas and Stewart have put together this time around. Until then, check out some new images from the film.
