Peter Jackson Denies Involvement In 'Lord Of The Rings' Series Or Any DC Film

Early last month, rumors began swirling around social media that Peter Jackson was lining up his next project, but he was having to make a difficult choice. The director was going to choose between the $1 billion Amazon series “Lord of the Rings” or tackle a DC superhero for Warner Bros. Fans were understandably going crazy with the news. Should he choose DC or will he go back to Middle Earth? Sadly, it appears it’s option C – Neither.

Speaking to French outlet Allocine, Jackson cleared up any rumors about his next project. Long story short, he’s not involved in “Lord of the Rings,” which will upset Tolkien fans, and he’s not going to work on a DC film. But hey, he has perfectly good reasons for both decisions.

“I’m not involved at all in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series. I understand how my name could come up, but there is nothing happening with me on this project,” said Jackson.

So, all that hubbub about Jackson being wooed by Amazon to help spearhead the massive venture of the streaming company is just false. Perhaps, at one point, Jackson was being courted, but make no mistake, the director is definitely not involved.

When the conversation turned to the other big rumor, Jackson was even more definite. Basically, much to the chagrin of comic book fans, it doesn’t appear that the filmmaker is ever going to venture down the patch of capes and tights.

“That’s not true. I had no discussions about that. I’m not a fan of comics, I’ve never read any, so I’m not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema. That’s not true at all.” explained Jackson.

He continued, “I’m not involved in any DC film or Lord of The Rings series but I’m ok with it, I have plenty other projects that keep me busy !”

So there you have it, not only is Jackson not involved with “Lord of the Rings,” but he’s also not going to be tackling Superman or any other superheroes for that matter. As far as what he’s got lined up next, he’s working with his ‘Hobbit’ crew on the “Mortal Engines” film, and after that? We’ll be eager to find out!
