As we noted earlier today, Hollywood is awash in last minute Oscar events aimed at enticing Academy members before the nomination voting deadline on Friday. On Wednesday night Focus Features and Vanity Fair put on an elegant soiree celebrating the costumes of Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread.” Next to Universal Pictures “Get Out” art installation it was arguably the most memorable out of the box event of the season.
“Phantom Thread,” “Black Mirror,” “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” make 2018 CDG Awards cut
Costume designer Mark Bridges, who earned a CDG Awards nomination earlier in the day, was on hand while 12 different models circulated the Chateau Marmont wearing different original dresses from the film. In fact, Focus had to find models who specifically fit into the costumes as they could not be fitted specifically for the event.
You can view seven of the 12 costumes in the two Instagram posts below. If you have trouble clicking on the post with multiple videos click here to watch directly on Instagram.
Besides Anderson, Bridges and star Vicky Krieps were on hand along with notable guests such Liev Schreiber, HAIM, Vicky Krieps, John C. Reilly, Rian Johnson, Joe Wright, Andy Richter, Zelda Williams, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Ilaria Urbinati, Holland Roden, Liz Goldwyn, Diane Warren, Fuschia Kate Sumner, Dove Cameron, Alexis Knapp, Chandler Kinney, Monet Mazur, Emily Ruhl and Eiza Gonzalez.
“Phantom Thread” is currently playing in limited release.
