Got a Tip?

Plot Details Emerge For Barry Levinson’s Sci-Fi Flick ‘The Bay’ (Formerly Known As ‘Isopod’)

Following a brief announcement earlier this month that Barry Levinson would be directing a sci-fi flick known only as “Isopod,” Shock Til You Drop have pierced the baffling Screen Daily paywall to dig up details on just what’s in store for the mysterious film.

Now known as “The Bay,” the film is an ecological/biological horror film that seems to be the hot new genre (following alien invasion flicks) with Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion” and the Cillian Murphy/Thandie Newton/Jamie Bell thriller “Retreat” both on the way.

The story, which lends itself to “Cloverfield”-esque handycam shooting, “is culled from a collection of camera phone accounts, 911 calls and other mediums and tells of a viral outbreak on the eastern seaboard. Much of the focus is thrown on the small town of Claridge, Maryland where chaos ensues.” Definitely sounds like a microcosm of Soderbergh’s globe spanning take on similar material.

The film is apparently already secretly shooting in Georgetown, South Carolina, presumably with a cast largely made up of lesser known actors. “Paranormal Activity” director Oren Peli is producing the film alongside Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones.
