Barry Levinson To Direct Sci-Fi Thriller 'Isopod,' Production Begins Next Month

Ok, this is going to be a short post because details are pretty scarce right now, but Production Weekly has tweeted that Barry Levinson is set to direct an indie sci-fi thriller called “Isopod.” Not much is known yet about the project except that it will be shooting next month in the Carolinas.

It’s an interesting move for Levinson, who has never really worked in the genre before, and certainly the project is coming pretty much out of nowhere. Last we heard, Levinson was attached to direct “Brother Jack” a feature film about activist Jack Healey, but that film was awaiting a script rewrite. Last year, he was linked to a couple of projects that we presume are still on the back-burner including an adaptation of his own novel “Sixty-Six” and a film version of Anatoly Kuznetsov’s WWII classic “Babi Yar.”

Levinson is coming off a pretty good year as his HBO film, “You Don’t Know Jack” earned a staggering fifteen Emmy nominations. He also directed a completely weird coffee commercial with Al Pacino. Details on “Isopod” are sure to surface soon, so we’ll keep you posted.
