“Baywatch” is swimming into multiplexes this Memorial Day weekend, but is dragging along with it a dismal 19% score on Rotten Tomatoes (here’s our review). But who needs critics, when you have Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and a whole lot of beautiful co-stars showing off lots of skin? Producer Beau Flynn is certainly hoping that’s all audiences want to see, as he revealed plans are already cooking for a sequel that will, naturally, expand the scope of the franchise.
“We have an amazing story already,” he told Variety. “We’re bringing back [Damian] Shannon and [Mark] Swift who wrote on the first one, and I know Dwayne would be in, I know Zac and all the girls would be. We just have this really cool idea to put them in this whole new world. We would take it overseas.”

Well, we’ll see how Paramount is feeling once the numbers roll in. The film is tracking to open between $30-40 million, which isn’t too bad for the film which somehow cost $69 million (which I presume was on the cast, and not on the dreadful special effects). And if the film reels in decent numbers internationally, it will end up being a moneymaker for the studio. However, how will audiences feel about it? Well, according to Johnson, they just want to have a good time, and “Baywatch” delivers….
