'Queer As Folk' Trailer: Stephen Dunn's Update Of Cult Queer Series Hit Peacock On June 9

Part of Peacock‘s whole premise as a streaming channel appears to be rebooting old franchises for the modern viewer. They’ve done it with several older shows already: “Punky Brewster,” “Saved By The Bell,” and “Bel-Air” are just some of the service’s offerings. Now, add a reboot of something more recent than those to the list, as “Queer As Folk” also gets the remake treatment this summer.

Canadian director Stephen Dunn helms this 2020s update to the Channel 4 UK original series and its American Showtime counterpart. The new series takes place in New Orleans, where a diverse group of friends navigates their sexuality and future after tragedy rocks their lives. Dunn, best known for his 2015 feature debut “Closet Monster,” fits this show’s heritage well; let’s hope he does it justice.

Devin WayFin Argus, and Jesse James Keitel lead the cast of “Queer As Folk,” with Candace GraceJohnny Sibilly, and Ryan O’Connell also part of the main cast. The show also boasts supporting roles by Kim Cattrall and Juliette Lewis as mothers to O’Connell & Way and Argus, respectively; two big catches for a revival show. The show also stars Ed Begley Jr.Armand FieldsChris Renfro, and Eric Graise.

“Queer As Folk” has its season premiere on Peacock on June 9. The show also gets an international release. It premieres on Stan in Australia on June 10 and Starzplay for the UK, Europe, and Latin America; that’s a July 1 premiere for the UK and July 30 everywhere else. Watch the trailer below.
