Outside of being a very good filmmaker, Quentin Tarantino is also one of the most opinionated film fans around. As someone who loves cinema and studies it, Tarantino just has a lot of opinions about the industry and films. And apparently, one of his many opinions is about Pixar’s “Toy Story” franchise.
Speaking on the Club Random podcast, Quentin Tarantino explained why he loves the “Toy Story” franchise. Well, he loves the franchise, minus the most recent film, “Toy Story 4.” In the filmmaker’s mind, the film series ends as a trilogy, and he has no interest in watching more.

“I am a big fan of the ‘Toy Story’ trilogy,” said Tarantino. “In the case of ‘Toy Story,’ the third one is just magnificent, and it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, then it’s just devastating. The thing is, three years later or something, they did a fourth one and I have no desire to see it. You literally ended the story as perfect as you could, so no I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done.”
For Tarantino to say “Toy Story 3” is one of the best movies he’s ever seen is high praise for the Pixar franchise. However, to just completely ignore the fourth (and presumably the upcoming fifth) film in the franchise shows just how steadfast Tarantino is with his opinions.
He’s not the only one with that opinion either. When the fourth “Toy Story” film was announced, people were confused because the third one was so well-received and beloved by fans. But in Hollywood, it’s all about franchises and sequels, so Disney saw the opportunity to continue it beyond what seemed like its true ending. And since the fourth film did so well, now Pixar and Disney are going to release a fifth one in a couple of years.
