Quentin Tarantino Says ‘The Social Network’ Is The Best Film Of The Last Decade, “Hands Down”

Quentin Tarantino is a cinephile to the nth degree. From his humble beginnings working at a video store to becoming one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Hollywood, Tarantino has continued to be a lover of films and someone that is willing to give credit where credit’s due when it comes to features that he thinks are great. Even if he surprises people by naming “Crawl” as one of his favorite films of the year. But recently, he was asked what his favorite picture of the last decade is, and the filmmaker didn’t disappoint with his answer.

Speaking to Premiere, Tarantino was asked which film does he consider the best of the last decade. And though he could have just glanced at our list and made a decision, the filmmaker opted to go rogue and use his own opinion.

“It’s ‘The Social Network,’ hands down…It is number 1 because it’s the best, that’s all! It crushes all the competition,” said Tarantino.

Though many might be surprised by the filmmaker’s choice, given the decade produced films such as “Burning,” “The Master,” “A Separation,” and “Moonlight,” to name only several, Tarantino didn’t necessarily go out on a limb saying “The Social Network” is the decade’s best. David Fincher’s 2010 drama about the creation of Facebook and the rise of Mark Zuckerberg was nominated for 8 Oscars, including Best Picture and won 3 (Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Original Score).

Tarantino also would go on to justify his selection by mentioning how he considers Aaron Sorkin one of the greatest writers working today, name-dropping the TV series, “The Newsroom,” as additional proof. Again, not much of a blistering hot take, but still good to see someone like Tarantino, who is known for his dialogue and characters crediting someone that seems to be of a similar vein.
