If you haven’t seen Chris McKay’s “Renfield,” you’re missing out. In our review of the film, we stated, “Thanks to Nicolas Cage, “Renfield” is the rare horror-comedy to find the balance between respect and playful irreverence.”
Starring Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as Renfield, the film tells the story of the toxic and co-dependent relationship between Dracula and Renfield. For centuries, Renfield has served Dracula and has yielded every request, regardless of how vile. However, Renfield is now ready to remove himself from under The Prince of Darkness’s thumb and start a new life.
Last week, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment released the modern-day monster film on Digital, Blu-Ray, and DVD. This “Dracula Sucks Edition” has 60 minutes of never-before-seen bonus content. The bonus features include feature commentary; deleted and extended scenes; alternate takes; an in-depth look at the film’s cast, sets, and costumes; Nicolas Cage revealing the secrets behind his performance; a look at the special effects makeup, the action, training, choreography, and the construction of the musical number.
Thanks to Universal, we have two digital codes to give away to our audience. “Renfield” also stars Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Brandon Scott Jones. The story was written by Robert Kirkman.
