'Retreat': Emma Corrin Cast In The Upcoming FX Series From The Creators Of 'The OA'

RIP “The OA.” One of the best, most original shows to ever grace Netflix was taken before its time a couple of years ago. But if you’re someone like me that regularly thinks back to Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij’s incredible series, then you’ll probably be excited by the news that the creative duo behind “The OA” is preparing their next series, “Retreat,” and its first cast member is someone to get really excited about.

According to Deadline, Emma Corrin has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming murder-mystery series, “Retreat.” The series, created, written, and directed by the aforementioned Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, follows a young, Gen Z sleuth (Corrin), who finds themself at a mysterious retreat where someone has been murdered. Much like an Agatha Christie novel or the more recent “Knives Out,” Corrin’s character will go through the ensemble cast to figure out who might be responsible while also trying to prevent a future death from happening.

Corrin is probably best known for their award-winning breakout role as Princess Diana in the most recent season of “The Crown.” Since then, it’s been clear that Corrin is a young actor that is highly sought-after, and it’s amazing to know they were cast in “Retreat,” which is already one of my most anticipated series.

Again, “Retreat” comes from the minds of Marling and Batmanglij. And seriously, if you are curious about why a new project from them is exciting, just watch “The OA” and you’ll see that these are two filmmakers that love to paint outside the lines of genre and structure. They’re not a duo that is ever going to present a story in a boring, routine way.

And since Netflix has gotten out of the Marling and Batmanglij game, for the time being, the duo’s “Retreat” is expected to arrive through FX. A date has yet to be announced.
