Could the cast for this get any better? Andrew Dominik‘s “Cogan’s Trade” which is gearing up to start filming soon has already got Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, James Gandolfini and Bella Heathcote on board and has now added one more seasoned veteran to the cast.
Variety reports that Richard Jenkins has been cast for the caper film. An adaptation of the pulp crime novel by George V. Higgins (the author of “The Friends Of Eddie Coyle”), the story follows a mob enforcer (Pitt) trying to track down the thieves who ripped off a high stakes card game. Jenkins will play a lawyer who shares inside info on the card game, while Gandolfini will play a washed up, alcoholic hit man who is brought in on the job.
Still no word on Casey Affleck who has long been linked to the film, but with filming set to begin later this month in Louisiana more casting should be confirmed shortly. “Cogan’s Trade” was picked up by The Weinstein Company last month, and is already scheduled for a first quarter, 2012 release. We can’t wait.
