Deadline reports Kate and Rooney Mara will star in “Bucking Fastard,” Herzog’s upcoming film about two inseparable twin sisters who live on the fringes of society. Herzog will write and direct the film, with Ariel Leon Isacovitch and Agnes Chu producing, along with Andrea Bucko and Emanuele Moretti via Cobalt Sky Motion Picture Group. Shooting starts this Spring in Ireland and Slovenia.
“Bucking Fastard” will be Herzog’s first film since his two 2022 documentaries, “Theater Of Thought” and “The Fire Within.” Recent work for Rooney include last year’s “La Cocina” and Sarah Polley‘s 2022 feature “Women Talking.” Kate’s recent work includes the FX series “Class Of ’09,” with the sci-fi thriller “The Astronaut” on the way later this year.
Since it’s a Herzog project, don’t be surprised if “Bucking Fastard” gets a festival world premiere in 2026.
