Rumor: Holly Hunter Plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Holly Hunter Dr. Leslie Thompkins

Whatever your opinion on Zack Snyder‘s “Man Of Steel,” you certainly can’t fault his casting, with the director rounding up some impressive actors for his blockbuster superhero flick. And he’s continuing that with the sequel, “Batman Vs. Superman” (or whatever it winds up being called). Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Gal Gadot are already joining the returning cast of Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane, and in recent days, Holly Hunter also boarded the project. But, as with most things surrounding the movie, her role was kept under wraps, but word is already percolating about what it might be.

Latino Review has “heard” that Hunter will be playing Leslie Thompkins (or a Leslie Thompkins type character). If you’re not up on your Batman lore, in the comics she was the doctor who comforted Bruce Wayne after his parents were murdered, and essentially became an advisor/confidante as he grew older, and started hanging around in caves, wearing cowls and fighting crime. Curiously, the character has never appeared in a live action Batman movie, so this would be a first. But again, this is just a rumor and could be totally wrong, so you know, grain of salt and all that.

Anyway, we’ll see how it goes. And while we’re here, if you haven’t watched “Top Of The Lake“—featuring a pretty blazing turn by Hunter—rectify that issue immediately. “Batman Vs. Superman” arrives on May 6, 2016 opposite “Captain America 3.” Unless one of them moves, which will certainly happen.
