With HBO‘s “Succession” ending at the end of the month, it’s time for its cast to start thinking about future projects. In Sarah Snook‘s case, she tries her hand at horror in the upcoming Netflix film “Run Rabbit Run,” which had its premiere at Sundance earlier this year.

So what’s “Run Rabbit Run” about? Australian director Daina Reid‘s feature debut follows Snook’s Sarah as she notices her child Mia acting strangely before her seventh birthday. A pet rabbit meant to placate Mia in fact does the opposite, and ends up pitting mother and daugther against each other.
Alongside Snook, “Run Rabbit Run” also stars Lily LaTorre as Mia, Damon Herriman, and Greta Scacchi. Reid directs a script by Australian writer Hannah Kent, based on an idea from Carver Films. Elisabeth Moss was once attached to Snook’s role here, given Reid’s directorial duties on Hulu‘s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Apple TV+‘s “The Shining Girls.”
Reid and Snook serve as executive producers on “Run Rabbit Run,” while Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw produce the film through Carver Films. XYZ Films also co-financed the film with Screen Australia. Netflix nabbed the global rights for “Run Rabbit Run” following its premiere at Sundance in January.
Critics didn’t take to “Run Rabbit Run” at Sundance. The Playlist’s review said that the film “remains more of a premise than a fully fleshed-out feature” and that it’s “riddled with clichéd character decisions.” But maybe it will find an audience on Netflix. “Run Rabbit Run” premieres on the streamer on June 28.
