More “Reacher” isn’t the only thing on the way for Alan Ritchson. Deadline reports that the actor has another action vehicle on the way soon: “Runner,” directed by “Need For Speed” and “Expendables 4” helmer Scott Waugh. Shooting starts in London next March, so expect the film in theaters or on steaming in late 2025/early 2026.

From the sounds of things, “Runner” will be a standard run-and-gun vehicle for Ritchson. The script from Miles Hubley and Tommy White follows a high-end courier with mere hours to transport an organ to save a young girl needing an immediate transplant. But the routine mission turns deadly when the head of a crime syndicate wants the organ for himself. It’s too early to tell if “Runner” will raise Ritchson’s star power even further, but an urban-set chase thriller with ground-and-pound action sequences sounds right in the “Reacher” star’s wheelhouse.
“Runner” will hit the American Film Market in Las Vegas next month courtesy of WME Indepdent, with A Higher Standard handling international sales. Todd Garner leads producers via Broken Roads Productions, along with Dan Spilo through Industry Entertainment, Ritchson, Mark Fasano through Nickel City Pictures, and Jeffrey Greenstein via A Higher Standard.
Along with “Reacher” Seasons 3 and 4, Ritchson’s other upcoming projects include Netflix‘s sci-fi actioner “War Machine“ and the eleventh “Fast And Furious” movie. “Reacher” Season 3 hits Prime Video early next year.
“”Runner,” with the driving force of an actor like Alan Ritchson, reminds me of the Tony Scott action films I grew up on in the 90’s when character and story were pivotal and the action was a spectacle,” Scott Waugh said in a press statement. “I couldn’t be more excited to direct this super entertaining script and bring the thrilling world of “Runner” to life.”
As noted earlier, expect “Runner” to reach audiences sometime in late 2025/early 2026. As for whether it hits theaters or streaming, stay tuned on who picks it up at AFM in Las Vegas next month.
