Blessed with charisma, talent, and range, Ruth Negga has already been turning heads on both the small and big screen. She’s the firecracker Tulip O’Hare on AMC‘s wild, graphic novel adaptation “Preacher,” and last year she showed a completely different side of her abilities, with her lovely, subtle work in Jeff Nichols‘ beautiful “Loving.” Now the actress is headed into outer space with a sci-fi project we can’t wait to see.

Negga has joined Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones in James Gray‘s “Ad Astra.” The film will find Pitt playing Roy McBride, a slightly autistic space engineer who embarks on a one-way trip to Neptune to find out why his father’s previous mission to find signs of intelligent life failed. Jones is lined up play Pitt’s father, with Negga’s role in the “Heart Of Darkness” style story being kept a secret for now.
Co-written by Gray and Ethan Gross (“Fringe“), production on the film is expected to start soon, so keep your eyes on the skies. [THR]
