'Salem's Lot' First Look: Lewis Pullman Stars In New '70s-Set Stephen King Adaptation

With “Salem’s Lot” expected to arrive on Max in a couple of months, we finally have our first look at the film, via new photos from Vanity Fair. For those unfamiliar with the King tale, “Salem’s Lot” tells the story of a novelist who returns to his home town of Jerusalem’s Lot, where he begins to believe that vampires have taken over the town. The film, much like the novel, is set in the ‘70s and is directed by Gary Dauberman.

“Most of my stuff is set in the ’70s. I love the music. I do love the costumes. I just love the vibe of it,” said Dauberman.

The filmmaker also talked about the tone that he’s going for with “Salem’s Lot.” According to the filmmaker, he wants this film to be a thrill ride from start to finish.

“You could do a very dry version of this movie, but that’s just not my personality,” Dauberman explained. “It’s trying to ride that wave’s ups and downs. You’re having fun with it, and then you can have a scare, and then you’re having fun again. Hopefully it feels like a complete ride at the end.”

The film stars Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, and Alfre Woodard. “Salem’s Lot” is written and directed by Gary Dauberman. The filmmaker previously directed “Annabelle Comes Home.” Prior to that, he wrote a number of horror films including both parts of “IT,” “The Nun,” and “Annabelle.”

“Salem’s Lot” is expected to debut on Max in October. You can see the first-look photos below:
