After breaking out with “A Separation,” cinephiles have been diving deep into the works of Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. Long unavailable stateside, his earlier films “About Elly” and “Fireworks Wednesday” have made their way to stateside screens, highlighting a talent that was already quite formed before his 2011 film. And his followup, “The Past,” only cemented he was a filmmaker with a tremendous voice. Now he’s back at Cannes with “The Salesman,” and the first footage from the movie has landed in three clips.

Starring Taraneh Alidoosti and Shahab Hosseini, the story follows follows Emad and Rana, who are forced out of their apartment due to dangerous work on a neighboring building, and move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. An incident linked to the previous tenant will dramatically change the young couple’s life.
Sounds like another intimate, intense portrait from Farhadi and we can’t wait to see what he delivers. The film screens on the Croisette next Friday, so until, then watch one new clip above, and two below.
