One of the biggest mysteries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was answered in this year’s “Captain Marvel.” How did Nick Fury lose his eye? Well, *spoilers* he lost that eye thanks to a Flerken (a powerful alien in the body of a seemingly harmless kitty cat) named Goose that scratched out his eye. It was anticlimactic, to say the least. But that’s canon now. And it appears that the marketing department of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” didn’t pay attention to this key plot point.
In a recent post by Samuel L. Jackson, who portrays Nick Fury in the MCU, the actor pointed out a huge mistake on the part of Sony’s marketing team. Fury, who appears in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ sequel, is shown in side-by-side posters to have his famed eyepatch on his left eye, and then on his right eye (seen below). Oops.
“Uhhhhhhh, What In The Actual FUCK IS GOING ON HERE???!!! #headsgonroll #lefteyemuthafukkah,” posted Jackson.

Obviously, this isn’t some sort of mistake on the part of Fury or the people who made ‘Far From Home.’ Instead, it appears that someone with an itchy Photoshop trigger finger simply flipped the image of Fury and thus, flipped the eyepatch. And we can only imagine that this poor soul is getting brought into their superior’s office as we speak, to receive quite the tongue-lashing.
The last thing you want on the eve of a film’s release is when a star in said film points out a major marketing faux pas. Yeah, not a good look for Sony, Marvel Studios, or the marketing department. And as we know from decades of interviews, Jackson isn’t the type of guy that’s going to ignore such a mistake or fail to use curse words when pointing out the flub.

We can only assume that fans will see the eyepatch on the left eye when “Spider-Man: Far From Home” hits theaters on July 2.
