As shooting for “The Chronicles Of Narnia” approaches, many questions abound about Greta Gerwig‘s upcoming film at Netflix. Will the streamer add IMAX screens to its already confirmed theatrical rollout for the movie on Thanksgiving 2026? Will Gerwig be making “Narnia” films for the foreseeable future (she’s signed on for at least two)? And who will star in the film? Will it be a Gerwig regular, like Saoirse Ronan?
Rumors swirl around the internet about Ronan’s casting in the film, but if it’s indeed happened, it’s news to the actress. In a recent appearance on the LA Times’ “The Envelope” podcast, the hosts asked whether there’s any truth to her being in Gerwig’s film. Her response? A long pause, then, ““I mean…I would love to be in it. If she asks me, I’ll be in it, but that hasn’t happened yet,” she said. “I think she’s just she’s just very focused on writing the script right now.” That sounds about right, as earlier this year Gerwig admitted to being “intimidated” about adapting C.S. Lewis‘ beloved series, going as far as to call the creative space she’s in as “a place of terror.”
However, Ronan won’t rule out a part in the film is Gerwig has one in mind for her. “But yeah, if she asks me to be in it, I will be in ‘Narnia,'” continued the actress. “I’ll be Mr. Tomsely if I have to be, I’ll be whatever she wants me to be, I’ll be the snow, I don’t care. I’ll be the wardrobe, You heard it here first, guys: ‘Saoirse Ronan willing to do anything to get into Greta Gerwig’s next film.’”
And that’s the best rumor control available to quell the online gossip: straight from Saorise Ronan’s mouth. Check out the actress in her two films from 2024: “The Outrun” and Steve McQueen‘s “Blitz.” Up next for the actress? The dark comedy “Bad Apples,” which should be in theaters next year.
