Got a Tip?

Saoirse Ronan Takes The Female Lead In Wes Anderson’s ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’

nullWes Anderson's "Grand Budapest Hotel" has mostly been developing under cover of night, but yesterday the director himself spoke up about the movie. He revealed that it takes place 85 years in the past and is inspired by the films of Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch, which sounds just fine to us. And just 24 hours later, a new cast member has joined, an actress that will be a fresh face amongst his usual troupe.

Saorise Ronan has come on board the film, and while plot details are still under lock and key about the movie set in a Hungarian hotel, she's nabbed the female lead. So yes, it's another story focused on a young person. But no doubt, she'll been having a fun time on the movie joining Bill Murray, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes and Jason Schwartzman while Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Owen Wilson are among those who have been rumored, but not yet confirmed.

It's a pretty great choice for the actress, who continues to mix big movies with small ones and is set to lead her first tentpole with next spring's "The Host." But with production gearing up to start early next year in Germany, it will likely be a nice break before she faces rabid Stephenie Meyer fans on the press gauntlet for that film. [Variety]
