Scarlett Johansson Is "A Huge Nerd" For 'Jurassic Park' & Has Been Trying To Land A Role In The Franchise "For Over 10 Years"

The latest reboot of the “Jurassic Park” franchise is coming sooner than many of us expected. It was only just announced several months ago, but with an aggressive 2025 release date, casting announcements happened fairly quickly, and filming is apparently going on right now. Perhaps the biggest name in the cast is none other than Scarlett Johansson. And according to the actor, starring in a ‘Jurassic’ film is actually a huge dream of hers.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, while promoting the release of her upcoming film, “Fly Me to the Moon,” Scarlett Johansson talked about how excited she is to star in the upcoming ‘Jurassic’ reboot. As far as we know, this new, untitled film is not connected to the events of “Jurassic World” and that recent trilogy, as none of those actors are returning. Instead, this is a new take on the franchise, building on what’s come before.

“I’m an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan,” said Johansson. “It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”

She added, “I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself. I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”

Adding to fans’ excitement of the project is the rest of the talent that has been announced. We know the film is set to be directed by Gareth Edwards and written by “Jurassic Park” scripter David Koepp. As for the cast, joining Johnasson is Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and Mahershala Ali.

The yet-untitled film is said to arrive in theaters on July 2, 2025.
