‘Scream 6’ Trailer: Ghostface Slashes His Way Through The Bodegas Of New York City

No one predicted that last year’s “Scream” would reinvigorate a franchise many considered well past its expiration date. After all, its predecessor “Scream 4” came out over a decade earlier, and slashers aren’t as viable today as they once were. But the Radio Silence crew won over both critics and audiences with their relaunch of the series, so much so that Spyglass granted them the creative control to take the franchise into uncharted territory.

But what’s that mean for the likes of Ghostface and the survivors of the previous film? Well, for one, “Scream 6” takes the series out of the franchise’s usual locale of Woodsboro, California for the Big Apple. So, will this breathe even more new life into the series, or go the way of “Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan“? Horror fans will soon find out.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

“Scream 6” stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Mason Gooding, and Liana Liberato. The film also stars Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Jenna Ortega, Tony Revolori, Samara Weaving, and Josh Segarra. Franchise vets Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox also return for the sequel. But sorry, “Scream” fans: no Neve Campbell this time around.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, the screenplay is written by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick, based on characters written by Kevin Williamson. Producers on the film include William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein.
