'Search Party' Is Coming Back For 2 New Seasons On HBO Max, Proving There Is Still Good Left In The World

With the absolute barrage of streaming projects coming to the multitude of platforms over the next couple of years, it’s truly impossible for us to keep up. However, there are times, even when it’s not the most earth-shattering news featuring the industry’s biggest names, that we have to make a stand and make sure our readers know something important. And that time is now, with the recent announcement that “Search Party” is coming back, but on a different network/platform.

According to WarnerMedia, the acclaimed, offbeat comedy “Search Party,” which has spent its first two seasons on TBS, is coming back for a Season 3 and Season 4, but not on the Turner station. Instead, “Search Party” is hitting the streaming space and arriving on HBO Max.

“Search Party” follows the story of a group of entitled Millenials that find themselves in the middle of a murder cover-up. And as you might expect, hilarity ensues. Joking aside, the premise doesn’t necessarily sound like comedy fodder, but the cast that includes Alia Shawkat, Meredith Hagner, Brandon Micheal Hall, John Early, and John Reynolds is truly incredible and will make you howl with laughter.

“‘Search Party’ is alive and thriving!!” said producers Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers. “We are so thrilled to show the world what we’ve been working on the past two years and for new fans to find it on HBO Max. You’re going to love the two new seasons, but if for some reason you don’t, then you’ll get your subscription fee back. Actually, that’s not true. That’s a joke. We don’t have that kind of power.”

“With HBO Max we have the unique opportunity to continue this brilliant, acclaimed series and connect with even more of the younger, digital natives who have worshipped it the most,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer, HBO Max and president TNT, TBS, and truTV.

While the release of Seasons 3 and 4 on HBO Max means that “Search Party” will be off screens for a bit of an extended period, this does offer comedy fans the chance to watch a truly underappreciated series before the new episodes drop in 2020.

Here’s the synopsis for Season 3 of “Search Party”:

Season three finds the gang swept up in the trial of the century after Dory and Drew are charged for the semi-accidental murder of a private investigator. As Elliott and Portia grapple with whether or not to testify as witnesses, the friends are pitted against each other and thrust into the national spotlight as notorious public figures. As Dory’s sanity begins to fracture, it becomes increasingly clear that they may not have brunch together for quite some time.
