'The Secret: Dare to Dream' Trailer: Think Happy Thoughts With Katie Holmes In This Romantic Drama

The self-help sensation “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne has become a sappy romantic drama. Weirdly, the transition to a love story makes sense. The book is based on the idea that positive thinking will bring about positive outcomes, and isn’t that the foundation of many romantic movies? “The Secret: Dare to Dream” builds a romantic plot around that notion and fleshes it out to a movie.

The self-help book promotes the idea that putting positive energy into the world will bring you good things in return. Byrne claims that many people in power utilize this principle and keep it secret from the rest of the world. Whether you buy into it or laugh at the idea, it’s a theory that’s been in the zeitgeist for years now. It’s a book, a documentary and now a movie.

“The Secret: Dare to Dream” follows widowed mother of three, Miranda (Katie Holmes), as she hits an especially hard patch in life — she’s broke, constantly plagued by bad luck and a hurricane just caused considerable damage to her home. She crosses paths with Bray (Josh Lucas), who teaches her family about the power of positive thinking. Miranda soon learns that her run-in with Bray may not have been as coincidental as he led her to believe.
