Last weekend, Selanators caught heard rumors that an upcoming doc about Selena Gomez would be out before the end of the year. Now, it’s official: “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” hits AppleTV+ on November 4.
The upcoming film takes a look at the past six years of Gomez’s career, with Alek Keshishian directing. For those who don’t remember, Keshishian directed the 1990 documentary, “Madonna: Truth Or Dare,” chronicling the pop star’s 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. So, in a way, Keshishian is a master of sorts when it comes to pop star docs.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis:
After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.
Gomez has sold more than 210 million singles in her musical career worldwide and also totaled over 45 billion global streams of her music. This year, she received a Grammy nomination for her all-Spanish EP and an Emmy nomination for her role in Hulu‘s “Only Murders In The Building.” She stars in 20th Century Studio’s upcoming remake of “Working Girl.”
“My Mind & Me” is Apple’s second project with producers Lighthouse Management + Media and Interscope Films, after “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.” That film received an Emmy nomination, so all involved expect “My Mind & Me” to do the same.
“Madonna: Truth Or Dare” is still one of the most influential movies in the musician documentary genre. Will “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” join it in those ranks? Find out on November 4, when the movie hits Apple TV+. Watch the trailer below.
