– In a recent interview with Hong Kong’s Prestige Magazine, Sharon Stone revealed that she’s set to star in “Satisfaction,” from director Anya Camilleri, who was behind the short-lived Rashida Jones TV series “NY-LON.” Stone will co-star alongside Carice Van Houten (“Black Book”) and Chris Evans, who will play a male prostitute in London who falls in love with an older woman. Shooting starts in London and Rome in January.
– Kevin Smith has been talking up his next movie “Hit Somebody,” a hockey movie based on the Warren Zevon song, which we reported on a few months back. Talking to the Huffington Post, Smith confirmed that it’s a more serious piece than we’d normally expect from him: “Some people heard of it and were like ‘Oh, you’re gonna do a “Slapshot” and I’m like “No.” I mean, it’s set in that era, but I’m going for something a little else, a little different on this one.” He also hinted that he might be casting former “Star Trek” child star and geek idol Wil Wheaton, tweeting that the actor is “my hockey brother from another mother. He’s gonna HIT SOMEBODY.”
– Lionsgate and Lakeshore are teaming up to produce “The Vatican Tapes,” a supernatural thriller in the vein of “The Exorcist”, from writer Christopher Borelli (direct-to-video horror flick “Whisper”), who co-wrote the story with Chris Morgan (“Wanted,” “Fast & Furious”). Bloody Disgusting were all over this story a couple of weeks back, and revealed some plot details – the film centres on a tape leaked from the Vatican that displays a botched exorcism, and is set to use the ‘found footage’ conceit, like “The Blair Witch Project” and current sleeper hit “Paranormal Activity.”
– Music Box Films have picked up the rights to “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” the adaptation of the first of writer Stieg Larsson’s bestselling Millennium trilogy. The Swedish-made movie has already grossed over $100 million worldwide, extraordinarily, and the sequels, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest”, are already in the can. The first part will be released in the U.S. early next year, and you can see a Swedish-language trailer below. We reported a few months back that Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt were circling the rights for a U.S. version, but it seemed a little fishy at the time, and there’s been no news on this since.
