'Jay And Silent Bob Reboot' Trailer: Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes Return to Hollywood [Comic-Con]

It has been a while (13 years to be exact) since “Jay and Silent Bob” have appeared in a live-action film, but they are back in “Jay and Silent Bob Rebooted.”

The Jersey boys, who are played by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith respectively, last featured in the animated film “Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie.” The duo will return for what will be the eighth film in the View Askewniverse, which was in turn, created by Smith.

Before the trailer hit, Smith took to Instagram to share a poster of what is the new Bluntman and Chronic from the film. The teaser image featured Bluntman and now female Chronic. In 2001’s “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” Bluntman and Chronic were male characters who vaguely resembled “Batman and Robin.” But now it is more like ‘Batman’ and “Wonder Woman” as Smith confirmed in the caption, “the rebooted Bluntman movie (the reboot of the movie that starred @biggsjason and @vanderjames) now features a female Chronic!”

Smith also confirmed on Instagram that the film is a sequel to all of the other View Askewniverse films (“Clerks,” “Mallrats,” “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma” etc.), saying, “I can’t wait to start sharing this epic! It’s my all-time favorite of all my flicks and also a meta scrapbook of my entire career (and life) that sequelizes all the #viewaskew movies in one sprawling story!”

The reboot film will see returns of actors Rosario Dawson (“The Lego Batman Movie”), Jason Biggs (“American Pie”), Shannon Elizabeth (‘American Pie’) and James Van Der Beek (“Dawson’s Creek). While there is also a role for Chris Hemsworth (“Thor” and “The Avengers”).

Here is the very basic synopsis:

Jay and Silent Bob return to Hollywood to stop a reboot of ‘Bluntman and Chronic’ movie from getting made.
